Andy Warhol undoubtedly created some of the most iconic images of the 20th century and is considered one of the leading and best-known representatives of the Pop Art movement. In many works he used everyday themes and pop culture - among the most famous works are his Campbell's Soup Cans and the portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. One of his most well known quotes: "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes."
Warhol rejected the painting and sculpture that were prevalent in his day and turned to silkscreen techniques. This is how he achieved his signature hard edges and flat areas of color. The artist mentored Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat and continues to influence contemporary art around the world. His works have sold at auction for more than $100 million.
