wowe (Wolfgang Wesener) is a highly regarded portrait photographer, known for capturing iconic images of figures in the arts and politics, as well as documenting New York City's vibrant nightlife scene. Born in Cologne, Germany in 1960, Wesener studied Design and Communications at the Folkwangschule in Essen from 1981-84. After arriving in New York in 1984, he began working with Hans Namuth and Evelyn Hofer on nightlife coverage for Details magazine.

Wesener later collaborated for 12 years with FAZ-Magazin, taking portraits for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung supplement. He moved to Italy in 1990 to work on international magazine assignments and personal projects before returning to New York City where he currently resides. His work has been exhibited in New York, Berlin, Rome, Naples, Prague, and is featured in major European photography collections.
